Open Space Design in People’s Park

A couple of blocks away from U.C. Berkeley school campus is a park called People's Park. Despite its impactful history on Berkeley, the space is known as a hub for crime today. In order to re-create this public space into a better place, I have created a proposal of how the University and the City could collaborate and make improvement on the land. This is the proposal I submitted to Urban Public Space Design Competition Tokyo in 2018 as an undergraduate freshman. Though my work was not awarded this year, pondering about existing space and designing it outside the class assignments were refreshing to me.
